Shooting & Saving On The Road

Updated on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 3:40PM by Registered CommenterJ + L

    Hey Everybody,

If you’re a regular follower of the film, you likely know that we’re a two person team making this film.  And by ‘making’ this film, we pretty much mean all of it.  Shooting, Editing, Graphics, Sound, Distribution, Web, travel bookings...all of it (with the HUGE exception of Jim Guthrie’s fantastic score).

As a result, we receive quite a few technical questions asking us about gear, technique etc.  We are hoping to do a few posts in the upcoming little bit that covers how we put (are putting?) the film together.  You can check out a previous gear-based post here.  On that note...

Let’s talk about IGTM Hard Drives!

    Fantastic Fest 2010 - Thought We'd Share...

    Hey Folks,

Nearly one year ago we started our main block of filming for Indie Game: The Movie.  The first stop on our shooting tour was a very cool event called Fantastic Arcade in Austin, TX.  Fantastic Arcade is a sister event to Fantastic Fest - a huge, exceptionally cool genre film festival put on by the Alamo Drafthouse.

Fantastic Arcade is a curated showcase/festival/celebration of independent games happening Sept 22-29.  Last year was the first year for the event and it had a great execution and vibe to it.  It’s a combination of an indie title arcade (likely the only place you’ll find a Norrland cabinet), organized tournaments, and (best of all) some really good talks and presentations from some great independent devs.

Fantastic Arcade is a direct bridge between the worlds of independent gaming and genre filmmaking.  Gaming and film both use genre and artistic style to tell stories and create memorable experiences that excite audiences around the world. These two mediums embody what the Fantastic Fest and Arcade are all about.

    - Mike Plante, Arcade Artistic Director.

Year 2 is looking every bit as good as last year.  With spotlighted titles & dev talks including titles such as  FEZ (Phil Fish), Faraway (Steph Thirion),  Octodad, Serious Sam (Vlambeer), and many more.  Check out the full list here.

Oh, but here’s why we’re writing.  The Fantastic Fest folks were doing a photo round up of last year’s event and we were asked if we had any pics.  We put together a selection of stills from the arcade room itself.  We forwarded them to the fest, and thought you might enjoy a browse as well.  Click here for the full set of pics...

And naturally, if you’re anywhere around Austin - do yourself a favour and go check out the event (it’s FREE!!!!).

    A Quick Update

    Hi Everyone,

We just wanted to post a quick update on the film.  We’re currently in the final throes of polish & detail work.  Basically, we’re tinkering with color, audio and a few graphical bits.  The film is about 98% done.

At the same time, we are planning, organizing and starting to book the film’s release.  You may have noticed a conspicuous lack of a release date on the site.  We’re waiting on a couple very specific pieces of the puzzle to fall into place before we’re able to announce where and when you can start seeing Indie Game: The Movie.

We’re not trying to be coy with the release date at all.  We just can’t announce anything just yet.  Bbbuutt, we can say that what we do have in the works is kinda, really amazing.

We hope to announce as soon as we possibly can.  But rest assured, the movie is in a really good place.  Everyone we’ve screened it for has been exceptionally positive.  We’ve started in on Special Edition content.  T-Shirts & Artwork is forthcoming.

In short:  Lots of good things are happening :)

    Last Call for Credits

Updated on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 10:47PM by Registered CommenterJ + L

Thanks so much for your support with our Kickstarter campaign! It's been great to keep working on the film these past few weeks and watch the continuous wave of support.  It's been truly amazing, and is leading to a better film in so many ways.

One of the ways we want to thank everyone that helped make this film happen (aside from making a really good movie) is to include on-screen thankyous in the credit roll to everyone who has preordered the film (Digital Download, Regular Edition, Special Edition).

    Credit Roll Cut-Off

We're getting close to finishing the film, and we have to finalize that credit roll in order to get a picture lock.  So, unfortunately we have to set a cut off time for people to get themselves in the credits.  And that cut off time will be the end of this current Kickstarter Campaign.

The Kickstarter campaign is coming to a close at 11:59am PST on Friday, July 22, 2011. Also, at that time, we'll be finalizing the Special Thank Yous for the feature film's credits.
