Want to see IGTM in your town?
We are hard at work on getting the initial rough cut of IGTM, but it's time to start thinking about where we're going to show this thing. We have a lot of great ideas about the film's eventual screening/distribution, and we can't wait for the film's debut this Fall!
Once the film is done and ready to show, we are of course going to have the film available for viewing in the form of DVDs, Digital Download and the like. But, we do want something a little more special as well.
We would love to tour the film in theatrical venues and hold community screening EVENTS. We want to do it up right - A theatre, post-screening Q & A (with us and hopefully people appearing in the film), community get togethers and some unique screening bonuses that you can only get live (we're working on some things :)
If game jams have taught us anything, it's that communities are strengthened and some wonderful things can happen simply by getting like-minded people in an actual room together. We're hoping that an IGTM screening can help to that end.
So with that in mind (community-building & kick-ass screenings), we are starting to put feelers out to people and associations that would like to see (or host) an IGTM screening in their town, city, community. Got a good screening idea? We'd love to hear from you!

Here in Vancouver we have a monthly indie game developer meet up which is constantly growing to the point where we needed to find a 100+ person venue. We start the meet up with some short lectures, post mortems, game demos, etc. then follow with networking. We've had Jamie Cheng of Klei/Shank speaking, will have HotHead of DeathSpank and Swarm at tomorrow's, and of course I've done a couple talks too ;)
You should definitely come out ;)
I'm from Venezuela, and we have a commnunity that is growing, think i'd be able to screen your movie here? I highly doubt you'll make it down here so this is why I ask just to screen it :P
I would love it if I could check this movie out in Christchurch, New Zealand
Although Medicine Hat, Alberta doesn't have a large developer scene, it does have a great 100 year old newly restored theatre (The Monarch Theatre) just perfect for a screening of the movie. There are a ton of geeks here, just not a bunch that make games. I'm sure we could fill it up. Also we could draw from Lethbridge, where there are some indie game devs.
A big bonus is our location, on a driving tour, we are a natural stop between Regina and Calgary.
@Brian - we'd love to show in Vancouver - and a GameDev meetup would be a perfect partnership. Feel free to send us contact information and we'll definitely see if we can make it happen this Fall/Winter.
@8vius and @Donald Outside North America trips are definitely a little bit more of a stretch for us to do personally - though not beyond the realm of possibility. But if you happen to have a good lead on an organization that would like to partner or an ideal venue - definitely pass along the info via the 'Request Screening' form.
@Derek - Yeah, if we get gather enough people in MH and we're heading cross country, we would love to do a showing there. For sure.
Hey from Montreal, Canada.
I co-organise a monthly indie game gathering in town: the Mount Royal Game Society (montrealindies.com), similar to the Vancouver meetups mentioned above (cheers to my countryfolk). During the Montreal International Game Summit, we helped put on a show called the Prince of Arcade, showcasing a dozen or so indie games from all over the continent. So, basically, we'd love to be able to arrange an IGTM viewing as well. :)
Feel free to contact me at the included email. This will be badass.
I would love to see the movie in London. There is a great independent cinema in Leicester called 'The Prince Charles Cinema' which would be fantastic. They've had numerous Q+A's and I'm sure that many game fanatics would turn up. Saying that if you show the movie any where in London I'll attend.
@Nick All of that sounds great! And MIGS is right inline with our release timeline. We will definitely be in touch a little later in the year (late Spring/Summer) as the film is nears finish and we begin to set up firm screening dates.
Thanks so much for getting in touch!
James
@Anthony The PCC looks like a fantastic cinema, with some really amazing programming. It seems like the perfect fit. And though nothing is set up yet, we've actually exchanged an email or two with them. So fingers crossed :)
Either way though, thanks for the support and we'll definitely try and get the film playing somewhere in London.
Take Care,
James
one nice idea that comes to my mind would be to show it to the college students aiming for a degree in game simulation and programing at the DeVry University in Fremont, CA. Being the current field i'm in I know that there is quite a few students in the program and there are many teachers that would love to see this as well. I'd just have to pitch the idea to Dean Walker to see what he thinks about it.
@Jason I think that's a great idea. In fact, I can easily see a whole college / VG program sub tour happening. This film is such a perfect fit for that audience not only because of its design aspects, but it (hopefully) does a really good job of showing the hard work, dedication and pressure associated with making games.
Yeah, DeVry sounds great - we'd love to show there. Thanks for the tip and if you have any luck with Dean Walker, let us know or forward him to us.
Either way, thanks so much!
For Toronto, I'm sure the Toronto Underground Cinema would love to show this in their theatre, and you'll probably be releasing around time that Gamercamp Lv3 is held... OH MAN I GOT AN IDEA!
Off to Twitter I go!
Vancouver please!
@Goose
Vancouver is looking quite promising ;)
The indie dev community in The Netherlands is growing, and would love to show the movie somewhere. Previously set up the Indigo showcase here, There just must be a way to sceen it somehow somewhere! *grabs cape and flies out*
@Zuraida Sounds good. Overseas screening are a little trickier for us to do personally, but that's okay (though we'd love to make it happen). We can always arrange a screening/event of some sorts. If you have any specific event ideas or names, feel free to send in a screening request via the form and we'll follow up :)
-Thanks for the suggestion!
James from IGTM
Can you come to Sydney Plz?
A Sydney showing would be absolutely wonderful. We hope to get overseas at some point, we'll have to see how it all plays out. Thanks so much for writing in though :)
