Indie Game: The Movie Screening Tour Kicks Off With Help from Adobe
FEBRUARY 21, 2012 — The directors of Indie Game: The Movie, today announced the first screening dates for their award-winning, feature-length documentary, which follows the stories of independent video game designers as they create and release their innovative, personal works to the world. The 15 city tour, presented by Adobe®, builds upon the momentum from its debut at the prestigious 2012 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. The first-of-its-kind documentary received rave reviews and an overwhelmingly enthusiastic reception, taking home a Sundance Award for Best Editing in World Documentary Cinema.
“We’re really excited to finally share this film with so many audiences, in person, throughout the country,” said James Swirsky and Lisanne Pajot, Directors/Producers, Indie Game: The Movie. “This project has truly been a labor of love for us and we are thrilled that Adobe is helping us take it to indie game developers and fans on such a large scale.”
While complete dates and information for the 15 city tour will be announced in the near future, the first public screening will be held at the Rio in Santa Cruz, CA on Friday, March 2 at 7pm. The second and third screenings will be held at the Embarcadero in San Francisco, CA, on Tuesday, March 6th at 7pm and 9:30pm. After each screening, Indie Game: The Movie’s filmmakers will hold a panel to discuss the film and answer questions from attendees. As a special guest at the Santa Cruz, CA screening, the creators of Super Meat Boy will be onsite to join the panel and giveaway merchandise. At each of venue, Adobe will handout prizes to game developers and offer one on ones with the Adobe Gaming Solutions team.
“Indie Game: The Movie is a stunning true-to-life documentary that drills down to the core of indie game developers and sheds light into the world behind the content,” said Emmy Huang, director, Product Management, Gaming Solutions at Adobe. “Adobe has always provided tools for creative professionals, like game developers, to showcase their skills and we are so happy to be working with James Swirsky and Lisanne Pajot to marry this wonderful film with Adobe’s gaming expertise for this countrywide screening tour.”
In addition to the public screenings listed above, Indie Game: The Movie will be making stops in Asheville, NC on March 15, Seattle, WA on March 23, Portland, OR on March 28, Chicago, IL on April 17 and Cambridge, MA on April 19. Tickets for all the screenings and information about future dates can only be found online at www.indiegamethemovie.com/igtmscreenings.
